Hike up to a cave? No Problem!

I've always wanted to hike up to the timpanogos cave but have never done it. My sister was doing it 3 times a week this last summer for excersise. I knew it was going to be a workout and she told me she saw moms carrying their babies up for excersise too. So I thought no big deal, I can do this. I had Eva, the little light weight but she still weighs in at 17lbs and Jared had the heavy weight Anna (20lbs). It 1.5 miles on a steep climb all of the way up.
I was doing good but short of breath and Juel was talking non-stop! How the heck was he not even breathing hard. Jared was even breathing hard but I made him talk to Juel so I could stay in the zone and make it up. After a long tour though the cave with Eva crying the whole time I was exhausted. As we started back down Jared had the brilliant idea to carry both girls and of course I was all for it! I found plenty of energy to get down and found it quite relaxing to take in all of the fall colors. Pour Jared was really tired carrying both girls but he's a man. He can handle it. As you can see the girls were exhausted too! They slept most of the way down. Overall it was badly needed excersise that was alot of fun too. But it did leave us exhausted. We both came home and crashed. I would do this hike again in a heart beat But not the cave tour. And it would be better without the extra weight. It would be fun to do next summer to get into shape.

Juel thought the cave was really neat! Especially since he got to hold the flashlight that the tour guide gave us.

This is a tree we found in the shape of a J just for Juel We made him pose but he was so scared because it was up high and we were already on a high ledge.

I'm glad to see you are enjoying your new area. We used to love it up there. Oddly I lived there for 6 years and never went up the caves! Crazy. So pretty though. Don't be so hard on yourself. You chase 3 kids ya know. :)

Anna & Eva look so funny in the picture with Jared. As hard as it may be to go out sometimes as a family (having little ones) I know the memories are well worth it. Especially when you lose a few extra pounds doing it.

Wow, you guys are crazy, amazing but crazy. I love the pictures. It looks like you guys had a blast. Justin wants to come down and hike now. It might have to wait until next summer now with the snow starting so early.

Wow, you beat us to the caves! we have lived here in utah county for two years and never took the chance. Sad huh. We would like to though, maybe in the spring when we have had time to let our baby grow a little. She should be coming any day now!

Good for you guys. It is nice up there huh makes you wonder if there are any undiscovered caves hiding in that canyon. My brother almost got squashed by a boulder four times his size one time we went up there. Now every time I go I am always on high alert.
